I am currently involved in a research project with Peter Ericsson that focuses on the growth of financial markets in Scandinavia during the first half of the eighteenth century. We investigate the role of war finance during the Great Northern War, especially the financial system created by Georg Heinrich von Görtz, and its impact on the population's economic practices. We also investigate how the Danish state financed its participation in the war and how this affected the financial markets in the Danish realm. The project is financed by the Swedish Research Council. In an earlier project I analyzed the relationships between the Swedish state and the international credit markets in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The project was funded by the The Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation (Riksbankens Jubileumsfond) and Handelsbanken's Research Foundation. Between 2008 and 2010 I was involved in a research project financed by the Swedish Research Council which focused on the organization of government debt in Denmark and Sweden during the second half of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
