Lyft fram möjligheterna med fristående kurser

Möjligheterna och synligheten för fristående kurser är viktigt att lyfta fram, säger Kerstin Rydbeck, dekan för historisk-filosofiska fakulteten.
Det återstår ungefär halva mandatperioden för dekan och ledamöter i fakultetsnämnden för historisk-filosofiska fakulteten. Vi träffade dekanen Kerstin Rydbeck för att höra vad som hänt och vad som kommer framöver.
Vad har ni uppnått hittills?
– Vid årsskiftet sjösattes de nya forskningsnoderna, några är omstöpta från de tidigare noderna och några är nya. En av de tidigare noderna har utmynnat i en programansökan till Riksbankens Jubileumsfond och det var ju en av tankarna med forskningsnoderna. Vid årsskiftet förändrades också den organisatoriska placeringen av Hugo Valentin-centrum, nu ligger de under historiska institutionen.
– Vi har nu en ledningsgrupp på fakulteten med två prodekaner, där Anders Ekström särskilt fokuserar på forskning och forskarutbildning och Maria Ågren på rekryteringsfrågor. Det här har fungerat jättebra, tycker jag. Bland annat har Maria har tillsammans med kanslipersonalen arbetat med nya rutiner för rekrytering av forskare för att få ner handläggningstiderna. De har betat av ärenden som hade samlats, skrivit instruktioner till sakkunniga och hjälpdokument som ska stötta processen.
– Det är roligt att speldesign på Campus Gotland startar de första kandidatprogrammen på engelska vid Uppsala universitet nu till hösten 2016. Studenterna på speldesign är väldigt engagerade och bidrar jättemycket till verksamheten.
Vad återstår att göra?
– För att gå vidare med Liberal arts-programmet på Campus Gotland behöver vi känna ledningens långsiktiga stöd. Programmet har fungerat bra, studenterna är nöjda men för att bygga vidare måste vi veta att det är en långsiktig satsning av universitetet. Övrig utveckling på Gotland kräver också långsiktighet, nu är det nog lite så att institutionerna inte känner långsiktig trygghet.
– Vi vill fortsätta utveckla de fakultetsgemensamma delarna av forskarutbildningen. Vi har startat ett gemensamt doktorandkollegium och har också gemensamma skräddarsydda forskarutbildningskurser. Det kan bli fler fakultetsövergripande kurser, det hänger på doktorandernas önskemål.
– Vi måste strida för synligheten och möjligheterna med fristående kurser, även rektor har konstaterat att vi måste lyfta fram fristående kurser. Men samtidigt finns ju inte den tryckta kurskatalogen kvar längre och kursämnena finns inte heller med i den tryckta Studier & Studentliv.
– Initiativet med digital humaniora är intressant. Vilken humanistisk forskare kommer inte att hålla på med digital humaniora i framtiden?
