Vetenskaplig ledare sugen på utmaning sökes

Centre for Integrated Research on Culture and Society, CIRCUS, ska förutom att utveckla forskningssamarbeten också fungera som en plattform för samverkan med samhället. På bilden Humanistiska teatern.
Centre for Integrated Research on Culture and Society, CIRCUS, vid Uppsala universitet söker en vetenskaplig ledare som ska bygga upp och leda verksamheten.
– Vi behöver en internationellt framstående forskningsledare som vill anta utmaningen att bygga upp en helt ny verksamhet vid vetenskapsområdet för humaniora och samhällsvetenskap. CIRCUS, ska vara en plattform och fysisk miljö för att starta och utveckla problemdrivna och tematiska forskningssamarbeten över ämnes-, fakultets- och områdesgränser. CIRCUS kompletterar den disciplinbaserade strukturen inom området och ska fånga upp och stödja många av de initiativ av tillfälliga forum och nätverk som forskare inom området initierar över ämnesgränser, CIRCUS är därför en viktig satsning för vårt vetenskapsområde som vi har stora förhoppningar på, säger Anna Singer, ställföreträdande vicerektor för vetenskapsområdet för humaniora och samhällsvetenskap.
CIRCUS är ett projekt som finansieras av rektors strategiska medel och områdesnämnden för humaniora och samhällsvetenskap. Organisatoriskt ligger CIRCUS direkt under områdesnämnden för humaniora och samhällsvetenskap och leds av en styrelse.
Utrymme att utveckla verksamheten
Den vetenskapliga ledaren ska bygga upp och leda den vetenskapliga och dagliga verksamheten. CIRCUS kommer att ha personal, fysiska lokaler och arbeta med bland annat konferenser, seminarier, kortare forskningsvistelser och utlysningar av medel till områdets forskare.
– Vi har inte konkretiserat verksamhetens form och innehåll mer eftersom vi vill att den vetenskapliga ledare vi anställer ska ha utrymme för att utveckla sin vision av verksamheten.
Stöd för att möta samhällets utmaningar
Vid vetenskapsområdet för humaniora och samhällsvetenskap är forskningen fast förankrad i ämnesdiscipliner som gör det möjligt att ligga i forskningsfronten inom varje ämne.
– Men vi behöver utveckla våra strukturer för att underlätta samarbeten mellan olika ämnesdiscipliner för att kunna möta samhällets utmaningar. Utmaningarna är oftast komplexa och kräver olika ämneskompetenser. Vi forskare gör det här hela tiden, men det tar mycket tid och vi vill stötta det viktiga arbetet med CIRCUS.
Tjänsten som vetenskaplig ledare för CIRCUS är öppen för ansökan fram till 15 maj.
