Innovativa spel tog hem priser vid Swedish Game Awards

Spelet Cryptogram vann tre priser under Swedish Game Awards. I Cryptogram är du som spelare instängd i ett hus och ska ta dig runt med hjälp av lönndörrar gömda i bokhyllor.
Studenter i speldesign från Campus Gotland vid Uppsala universitet tog hem hälften av priserna på Swedish Game Awards 11 juni.
Swedish Game Award, SGA, är Sveriges största spelutvecklingstävling för studenter från högskola och elever från gymnasiet. Varje år tävlar studenterna med de spel de utvecklat som projekt i studierna. I år deltog 160 studentprojekt och 8 priser delades ut.
Spelet Cryptogram tog storslam med tre priser av åtta möjliga: Best Execution in Design, Best Execution in Narrative och Best Technical Execution. Spelet Sam och Nicole vann pris för Best Diversity Effort.
I Cryptogram är du som spelare fast i ett vansinnigt hus jagad av ett monster. Spelet är som ett pussel och lösningarna för att ta dig runt i huset får du via bokhyllor och litteraturreferenser. Sam och Nicole är ett relationsspel i form av en grafisk novell om två flickor som är kära i varandra och som ska komma ut som gay.
Studentprojekt från institutionen för speldesign vid Campus Gotland brukar vara framgångsrika på SGA.
– Det är oerhört glädjande att det går bra för studenterna från Campus Gotland år efter år, säger Håkan Mattsson, adjunkt vid institutionen för speldesign. Det första vi säger till våra studenter när de kommer är att det inte ska göra drömspelet utan det som ingen tidigare sett. Våra studenters spel har därför ofta ett revolutionerande nytänk som gör att de sticker ut och fångar juryns uppmärksamhet.
